Invocation and Welcome
The Listening Forest
Sue was fortunate to have music teacher parents, and grew up with piano, violin, church music, bellringing and various choirs and orchestras. She has never really recovered from sitting next to the massed double bass section, aged 8, while her father sang in Bach`s "St Matthew Passion" in the Albert Hall. She later undertook a serious "apprenticeship" and study of African percussion, as well as Indian dance and singing, and has performed with various African Master Drummers in Senegal and the UK. She is also a valued percussionist with various survivors of 1960s and 1970s blues and rock bands.
Performance credits include Radio 3 ( with The BBC Symphony Orchestra), Sky TV, WOMAD, The Royal Society of Medicine and music events in Crete, Spain, West Bengal and Senegal. She has worked with Stroke and Parkinson`s sufferers, and has annual concert dates with, amongst others, a Benedictine Convent (" We promise to be better behaved next time": Mother Superior), and her most riotous audience: a group of octogenarian ex-Mothers` Union members from a Welsh mountain village.
