Expanding Horizons groups

A range of short term groups offering an opportunity to participate in activities of therapeutic benefit.  Activities are tailored to the needs of those with a neurological condition.  These groups are open to people with any neurological condition.

 

 

These groups include:

Art and crafts: a variety of art and craft activities – suitable for all

Book group: a discussion group where members choose a book to read and then talk about it

Creative writing: an opportunity to try out different styles of writing – including, descriptions, story-telling and poetry

Gardening: taking part in garden activities in the accessible INS garden with its raised flower beds. See our Gardening Group Update by clicking here

iPad: introduction to iPads. Guided exploration of range of iPad features. Experience or ownership of iPad not necessary

Music appreciation: This will start with a 4-week group which will then continue to meet once a month. It’s a chance to meet others to share favourite music and chat about it - perhaps expand your musical horizons.

Life story art: Building on previous taster sessions, this 4-week course will use a variety of art activities and techniques to help you explore your  life experiences.

Cook, chat and eat: An opportunity to prepare and cook some easy, but interesting, food in the adapted INS kitchen area, while chatting with others.

Yoga as therapy for people with Parkinson’s: A 6-week course for people with Parkinson’s and led by a physiotherapist. This will use yoga positions to work on posture, mobility, stability and relaxation.
