Celebrities Bring Festive Joy to INS Christmas Concert
13th December, 2016
The INS Christmas Concert took place on Tuesday 6th December and proved to be an evening of magical, festive entertainment, with appearances from local celebrities Amanda Lamb and Eddie Marsan. Supported by the National Opera Studio and Hampton School’s Voices of Lions Choir, the beautifully refurbished All Saints Church was filled with the wonderful sound of traditional Christmas carols, light opera and readings; all setting the scene for a perfect start to the approaching Christmas holiday.

All Saints Church offered a wonderful setting. We are very grateful to Revd. Gareth Wardell for allowing us to use their church for our event and we noticed how wonderfully accessible the church proved to be for our members. Amanda Lamb gave a reading entitled “A Politically Correct Christmas”, which raised many a warm smile and laughter, whilst ending with a truly heartfelt sentiment of the wish “May you and your loved ones, enjoy peace on Earth”. Eddie Marsan gave a rendition of “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” by Dylan Thomas, giving a spell-binding performance that kept everyone listening and which raised much laughter and applause.

The soloists from the National Opera Studio and The Voices of Lions provided amazing performances and really lifted the sense of the holiday season. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and wine provided by local supermarkets Sainsbury and Aldi; and we were so pleased to have the support of our own team of volunteers and those from GlaxoSmithkline, all of whom helped to make the evening run exceptionally smoothly.

The evening came to a close with a memorable appeal from Eddie Marsan; reflecting on the new “flammable” £5 note he reminded everyone present that we had many a fire resistant container to hand for everyone to use. We are really pleased that we managed to raise over £2,000 from the event.
We are very grateful to everyone who supported our event and would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
