INS Counselling Service for clients and carers

Developing a neurological condition can be a life changing and emotional event for both you and your support network.

You may have trouble with cognition and some situations may become more difficult to cope with.

  • You might feel angry or frustrated at your situation and have trouble in adjusting to the changes in your life and accepting what has happened to you. Therefore, you might feel uncertain about your future.

  • You may be struggling with your personal relationships and experience social withdrawal.

  • You may be finding it difficult to cope.

  • You may have lost interest in life and experience feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness.

  • You may experience guilt, shame, and embarrassment about your neurological condition.

  • You may feel irritable, angry, tearful, lonely, or depressed, or feel anxious about your situation.

  • You might want to gain some control of your life again and are prepared to make some important changes but need help in doing so.

INS can offer you one to one counselling, either face to face at INS, or over Zoom. Meeting with the counsellor in a confidential, empathetic, non-judgmental space and safe environment will help you to become self-aware, and help you to make sense of your feelings and the problems that you are facing. A counsellor will encourage you, helping you to develop your self-confidence to help yourself to improve the quality of your life and your wellbeing.
